WHS Holiday Season Update

West Hill Softball Community,

Thank you to all our players, coaches, volunteers, families, and board members that have contributed to the West Hill Softball program in 2022.

We have once again reached our biggest year yet, with over 400 players! We represent the LARGEST district/organization across Calgary, and have seen a 75% player growth in five years! This fall & winter we’ve once again had more than 100 kids registered in our various outdoor & indoor clinics, continuing to grow their game.

Looking ahead to 2023

Your WHS Board members have been busy at work preparing details for the 2023 Season. Information about the coming season will be communicated out next week, and Spring Registrations set to open on January 2nd. Rustbuster Training sessions will start on the January 21-23 weekend, with evaluations to quickly follow. Schedules will be posted soon!

Introducing Selects Div. 1 ID Camps

When you register for the 2023 season, players in u11 and older will be given the opportunity to sign-up for a Division 1 ID Camp.

These Camps will provide potential Division 1 competitive players an opportunity to be seen as a start to the evaluation process. Specific schedules for these ID Camps and evaluations will be provided next week.

Week Night Change for U7 & U9

In 2022, our u9 & u11 families had to play on the same night. Thanks to our feedback, CMSA listened, and have adjusted the nights for u9. As a result, here are the new nights:

• u9 – Mondays & Wednesdays (born: 2014-2015)
• u7 – Tuesdays & Thursdays
(born 2016-2017)
• u11 & u15 remains Tue/Thu
• u13 & HS remains Mon/Wed

More Improvements for 2023

Other things we are working on for the 2023 season:

• Coach Fees will now be covered by WHS as way to say thanks!
• New Head Coach WHS Jacket – A new bonus for Coaches!
• Photo Night moved to the start of the season and a closer location
• Year end WHS celebration – new league event in July
• New WHS Jerseys (take two!) – finalizing our newest design
• New WHS Store with a new partner, coming soon in the new year
• New Athlete Evaluation Software by SkillShark; our typical clipboards will be replaced by ipads and other devices!
• Umpire Fees aligned to teams/divisions that receive paid CMSUA umpires
• New Volunteer Bond requirement for all families in 2023
• 2023 WHS Tournament back again on Father’s Day weekend!
