2027 Division 1 WILD ID Camps & Evaluations

A New Evaluation Schedule

After careful consideration and valuable feedback from our membership, West Hill Softball has moved the 2027 Division 1 WILD ID Camp & Evaluations to September 2026.

This change reflects feedback from our members and allows us to better align with the other softball associations that our Division 1 WILD teams compete against in the Calgary Minor Softball League.

At West Hill Softball, player development is the foundation of our programming. By moving evaluations to the fall, we are creating more opportunities for athletes to develop their individual skills, build stronger team chemistry, and prepare for a successful 2027 season through expanded off-season training.

What is the WILD ID Camp?

The WILD ID Camp is more than a traditional tryout.

This program is designed to serve as both an evaluation and an identification camp, allowing coaches to assess athletes while identifying players with Division 1 potential.

Following the evaluation weekends, we anticipate selecting approximately 22–25 athletes for each team's Draft Roster.

Athlete talent and registration numbers will determine the final number of teams in each division. At this time, West Hill Softball anticipates fielding:

  • 1 U13 WILD Team
  • 1 U15 WILD Team
  • 2 High School WILD Teams (U17/U19)

Athletes selected for a Draft WILD Team will be notified within 7–10 days following the evaluations.

Draft Roster & Off-Season Development

Athletes selected to a Draft Roster will be invited to train together throughout the off-season from October through December.

The goal of this program is to prepare athletes for the 2027 season through focused skill development and team preparation.

The off-season program is expected to include:

  • Individual skill development
  • Position-specific training
  • Team-building opportunities
  • Preparation for the 2027 competitive season
  • Up to three skill development sessions per week

Additional details regarding the training schedule and program costs will be shared with selected athletes shortly after team selections have been finalized.

Athletes Outside the WHS Catchment Area

Players from outside the West Hill Softball catchment area are welcome to participate in the evaluation process. However, final placement on a WHS WILD team will be dependent upon receiving an approved Release/Transfer from the athlete's home association.

Coaching Opportunities

West Hill Softball is currently accepting applications for Head Coach and Assistant Coach positions for the 2027 WILD program.

Interested coaches are invited to complete the 2027 WILD Coach Application Form.

Coaches interested in joining the program should also be prepared to volunteer during the two evaluation weekends to assist with athlete assessments.

Our Commitment to Player Development

West Hill Softball is committed to creating a positive, competitive environment where athletes have every opportunity to grow.

By identifying athletes earlier in the year, we are able to provide additional months of high-quality development before the season begins, helping players strengthen their skills, build team chemistry, and compete at their highest potential.
